Porsche 944 Rear Speaker Plates

$79.95

We waited 40 years for good sound…

This is phase one of a modern Porsche 944 audio system.

We start by laser scanning the interior rear quarter panel - ensuring a perfect contoured fit - also placing the speaker opening at the best possible location for clearance.

Next.  We chose a thick sheet of aluminum for the plate…
One.  It won’t flex like cheap plastic.
Two.  We’re covering the mess of a large weird hole Porsche created (half 4x6” half 6" something)….

Three.  6061 aluminum is strong and light.

Next.  We machine it and powder coat it for a worry-free install.

The plates use the factory mounting points.

We leave the speaker opening untouched, allowing you to drill/tap/speed clip, screw or bolt your speaker in with any install technique you prefer.

2 plates included.

*** Now the details***

*The 86.5" and earlier 944s seem to only have a 4x6" rectangular speaker opening.  No problem... you will use our plates as template to cut out a larger opening.  Bolt up the plate, mark the opening, and mark the additional mounting points.  Then remove the plates and get your cutting tools.  It's ok to go a little bigger than marked - because the plates cover the cuts.

**We added a 6.5" option for those of you that don't mind a little extra modification.  In general a 6.5" speaker will fit through the opening of our plate and the 87 and later 944s, however, it is too close to guarantee your speaker mounting screws won't interfere with the sheet metal.  I.e.  You will mount our plates, and then basically drill for your speakers through our plate and into the Porsche sheet metal.  4 little holes that will never be seen.  But - this is something you will want to decide before ordering.

***Final reminder / overview :

1986.5 and earlier - you will be modifying your sheet metal no matter what.

1987 and later - a 5.25" will essentially bolt-on with no modification to the sheet metal.

1987 and later - a 6.5" will fit - but you will be adding a few screw holes in the sheet metal for the speaker.
